Dancerstage Academy In Amsterdam Seeks Students

www.dancerstage.com

DancerStage Academy (DSA) will open its doors on September 1st, 2005 with a three year program. The program will be split into two categories: professional dancers and choreography. DSA will be open to all dancers from different nationalities to bridge gaps and prompt understanding and tolerance through dance. It will operate in the state of the art studio facilities of Dance Street, in the center of Amsterdam.

Under the direction of Valerie Valentine (former ballerina of the Hat Dutch National Ballet) and Yehuda Maor (former principal dancer with Bat- Dor Dance Company, and former director of San Francisco Dance Theater), the International faculty of DSA invites you to come to Amsterdam and experience one of the most exciting cities in the world. To live, to dance, to study.

Here you will be exposed to the rich and diverse culture of Amsterdam; from the best art museums in the world (Van Gogh), to the one of the best Opera Houses in Europe. You can become a part of the vast dance scene in Holland that has some of the best dance companies in the world; from the famous Hat Dutch National Ballet, Netherlands Dance Theater, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam; to the most contemporary dance companies like Galili Dance company.

For entrance into the academy, an audition will be held. Some dancers that show potential, but lack experience, will be asked to first take a one year preparatory program that will continue with the three years of the academy's program. The accepted dancers have the option to stay in a cruise-boat-dormitory facility (see pictures on the website) or provide their own housing. Dancer's Stage Academy will offer foreign students a one year (or more) VISA to study dance in Amsterdam.

DSA will be offering a wide range of subjects to study in all dance disciplines. We will study all aspects of classical ballet and we will provide many exciting guest teachers for Modern dance, Pilates research, music, and choreography projects. In addition, there will be many performance opportunities.

CHOREOGRAPHERS PROGRAM - limited to five students, by audition only. Dancers enrolling in this program, with the focus and goal to become choreographers, will be given the opportunity to choreograph. All the choreographic works will be videotaped and will become the property of the choreographers. Some of the work will be presented in the performances throughout the year, after selection by the artistic faculty staff.

Each year will end with performances that will reflect what the students have learned during the courses. The advanced dancers will be featured for the opportunity to further their career into the likes of a professional. All those who graduate will receive a "Bachelor of the Arts" (BA) degree.

To all college dancers, we hope that you will consider joining us in DancerStage Academy for three years of dancing and studying in the magical city of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Visit www.dancerstage.com for all information regarding auditions (New York, Chicago, Amsterdam, and Salzburg), faculty, curriculum, tuition, student visas, and registration forms / contact information. Let us know as soon as possible because space is limited.

Director,
Yehuda Maor

I've also reviewed books that I bought, because they were worthy of your time. And I've also received dozens of review copies at no charge that do not get reviewed, either because they are not worthy or because they don't meet the subject criteria for this column, or simply because I haven't gotten around to them yet, since I only review one book per month. I have far more books in my office than I will ever read, and the receipt of a free book does not affect my review.
